We are saddened to share the story of a sweet dog that many of you are now seeing on the news. This pet was dumped into the back yard of our hospital and he remains critical condition at this time.
Due to the nature of the situation, Anaheim Police Department and Orange County Animal Care are now involved and he's receiving around the clock care to ensure he is recovering from both his injuries and ongoing medical needs.
1) We are incredibly grateful for the immediate response of the Anaheim Police Department. They immediately sent multiple officers to our hospital to assess the situation and place their team on this case. Their officers have been super responsive and extremely involved with this ongoing investigation. Thank you Anaheim PD! 2) Orange County Animal Control sent their Animal Control Officer (ACO) to our office and he patiently waited outside of our office THE WHOLE DAY while we rendered life saving medical care to the dog. They have taken over his care and will be providing ongoing care for him. Thank you Orange County Animal Control! 3) The dog was stabilized at our hospital and is now being cared for at a private facility and he is no longer in our care. He is not currently available for adoption and there is going to be a lot of medical care and other things involved before he is going to be made available to the public for adoption and/or foster care. We will update this information on our site once he's ready for that next step. 4) We are honored by the kind words and the public's willingness to step in and want to help. Please keep the little guy in your prayers and do you part to support local animal rescue groups who take care of dogs like this - even when they are NOT on the news. 5) Please consider making a donation in this dog's honor to a local animal rescue group. Below are a few of our favorites....but you can and should always support the groups close to your home. They rely on donations to keep their amazing work going - you are their lifeline to help animals in need.
6) We respectfully ask that you do not call our hospital to check in on this dog. We are a small team that is working tirelessly to help our existing patients and we want to make sure our time, effort and skills are being directed towards patient care and not on the phone. That said, we will continue to update you all with his status and care because it takes our entire animal community to help raise awareness and help dogs like this.
Please send your THANKS to Anaheim Police Department. Please send your THANK S to Anaheim Animal Care. Please send your prayers for this sweet animal in need. AND thank you for everyone's support and understanding during this difficult time.
